A New Beginning: D2 Center Becomes Directions to Diploma
A New Name. The Same Commitment to Student Success
As students head back to school, we're excited to share an important milestone in our journey:
D2 Center is now Directions to Diploma.
Our new name reflects who we are and what we do every day: advocating with and for young people as they earn a diploma that supports the future they want and deserve.
As the school year begins, graduation is top of mind for students and families in Douglas and Sarpy Counties. We want young people to know that earning their high school diploma is achievable with the right support in place.
We've launched an enhanced website that is fully bilingual in both English and Spanish. The site is designed to be easier for students, families, educators, and community partners to connect with our services.
"Students need clear direction and steady support and a path to their diploma," said Greg Emmel, Executive Director of Programs. "Directions to Diploma puts that mission in plain language with a website that is accessible and easy to navigate. Our rebrand reflects how our team walks alongside young people, helps them navigate challenges, and connects them with the support they need to keep moving toward graduation and beyond."
Every Student Diploma Ready
Since 2011, we've helped more than 1,100 students graduate. Our team meets students where they are through individualized support and strong partnerships with schools, counselors, social workers, and community resources.
For more than 15 years, we've guided students in the Omaha-metro area who:
Are not on a traditional academic path
Are off track to graduate on time
Have withdrawn from school
Are experiencing challenging circumstances
Our services include:
Academic Navigators who provide one-on-one advocacy, monitor progress, communicate with supportive adults, and connect students to community resources.
Career Navigators who help students prepare for life after high school and explore higher education, career pathways, skilled trades, and military opportunities.
Tutoring and Elective Classes that support academic achievement and postsecondary planning, including Math Elective, English Elective, Navigating Your Future, and tutoring services as needed.
Every student we connect with has a unique story. Many have experienced setbacks, family instability, financial pressures, or other circumstances that can make staying engaged in school difficult. By working one-on-one with students, we help them identify goals and overcome obstacles as they work to earn their diploma.

“Without the (program), my life would be a disaster,” said local high school student Alejandro. “I wouldn’t be on point for graduation, I wouldn’t be motivated to go to school and mentally I would have a lot of stuff going on without my Academic Navigator who helps me get through things.”
